A steady, listening presence in the time that matters most

End-of-Life Companionship

Trained companions offer practical and emotional support to people nearing the end of life, and to those who love them — without an agenda, and entirely on your terms.

What to expect

How it works

Our companions can sit with you, run small errands, help you think through what matters, or simply be present so that you are not alone with your thoughts. They are trained to listen rather than to direct, to follow your lead rather than their own, and to support family members and carers just as much as the person at the centre of it all.

The final months and weeks of a life can feel intensely lonely — for the person living through them, and for the people who love them. End-of-life companionship exists to soften that loneliness, gently and without intrusion.

A companion's role is simple to describe and demanding to do well: to be there. That might mean sitting quietly together, helping with small practical things, listening to worries that feel too heavy to share with family, or simply making sure that someone is not alone in the moments that matter. Companions are trained, supervised, and bound to strict confidentiality — and they take their lead entirely from you.

We also support the people around the person who is dying: partners, children, friends and carers, who are so often holding everything together while quietly falling apart themselves.
