A service that sounds like the person it is honouring

Funeral Celebrancy

Funerals and memorials shaped from the words, memories and voice of the person being remembered — led with warmth, care and total honesty.

What to expect

How it works

Richard and our small celebrant network build each service from real conversations, recordings and recollections, so that what is said at the front of the room actually sounds like the person being honoured — never a stranger reading from a generic template. Every detail, from music to readings to the shape of the day itself, is shaped entirely around the family's wishes.

A funeral is one of the very few moments when an entire community gathers to hear someone's life summed up in words — which is exactly why those words matter so much, and why they so often fall flat.

Our approach to celebrancy begins long before the day itself: with conversations, recordings, and the gathering of memories from the people who knew that person best — including, wherever possible, the person themselves, in advance. From all of that, we build a service that sounds like them: their humour, their turns of phrase, the things they cared about, spoken aloud one final time.

We work alongside families of all beliefs and none, and alongside funeral directors with care and respect. Above all, we aim to make sure that when people leave the room, they feel they have truly said goodbye — not to a stranger's idea of someone, but to the person they actually knew and loved.
